Rotary Club of Gold Beach* Meeting each Wednesday at noon at Grants * January 21, 2009 * Meeting #27
Today's Program: Alan VanDiver, US Forest Service District Ranger.
Club Report: Last week we welcomed new member BJ Martin. BJ is a realtor with Rogue Sportsman Realty and she and her husband Don, own PadiLock mini storage. Meet BJ and welcome her to our club...you may be asked to answer questions about her!
Our speaker was Jim Wernicke, the new mayor of Gold Beach. Mayor Wernicke talked about his plans for Gold Beach and then answered questions from the membership.
High on Health: Plans are underway for the High on Health Fundraiser which will be held on April 25, 2009 at the Event Center. This is a coordinated effort between our club and the Curry Health Foundation. Marlyn Schafer has graciously volunteered to be the Rotary Chair this year but this cannot be done alone. Along with committee members we will be looking for donations for the auction.
Remember April 25 is Rotarian's at Work Day! So be prepared to have fun while working towards a great cause! Fundraising meeting tonight at 5:00 PM.
Increase Your Rotary Knowledge: Excerpt from District Governor Mike Fishnaller. January is Rotary Information Month. A time for each of us to become better informed and prepared to make an even bigger impact with our Rotary service.
Don't limit yourself to what our club is involved in - reach out to the broader world of Rotary programs and service. It is an individual responsibility and not something anyone else can do for us.
Each Rotarian has the resources we need at our finger tips or in our mail box. When we became a member of our Rotary club we were given information about Rotary and our club. One source comes to us monthly in our mail box. The Rotarian magazine is a great source of information about successful projects, current information and future Rotary events.
I would also recommend visiting other Rotary clubs in your area as well as when you travel. It is a great way to make new friends and learn how other clubs function as well as hear great programs (which you may want to bring to your club). Don't wait until you need a make up - go when you have the time and a clear schedule.
