Minutes, Board Meeting 19 November 2008
The meeting was called to order at Gold Beach Books at 1807. In attendance: Stansell, Spicer, Peterson, Davis, Eide, Hughes, Cyparski.
- October 22, 2008 minutes were approved as submitted.
- After discussion regarding Curry Cares for Kids monies and funds from the Simplified Grant for the Ghana well, the Treasurer's report ending October 31, 2008 was approved.
- David Allen will be contacted regarding Walt Schroeder's contribution to his Paul Harris Fellowship.
- Other Treasurer business included a $186.98 past due bill from National Award Service, Inc to be paid and a $400 fee to Jeff Kemp for Rotary Taxes for fiscal year ending June 30, 2008.
- A new membership committee has been formed that will implement Article 13 "Method of Electing Members". The Membership Committee includes Allan Terrett, Bryan Little and Amber Hughes.
- Seven new members were added to the Rotary International Website in September. October membership update will remove (3) individuals. Debbie Champagne has relocated. Dean Mason is resigning from Rotary for health reasons. Ken McCune passed away.
- A motion was approved to change Jim Van Camp from active member status to Honorary Member for the balance of the 08/09 fiscal year for his work with the First Harvest project.
- It was determined to retain Reed Ringer as an Honorary Member for his generosity providing supplies for Rotary projects from Gold Beach Lumber.
- Two new members were proposed. BJ Martin under mini-storage designation and Angela Haralson from United Country under property sales designation. Discussion ensued regarding requiring new members to be willing to commit to volunteering time to strengthen the Gold Beach Rotary Club. A motion was approved to accept the proposed members under condition of understanding time commitments involved.
- Jeff Davis reported there was limited interest for the student exchange program at this time.
- Davis made a motion to cancel the December Board Meeting due to the holiday season. John Spicer seconded the motion. Motion carried.
- It was agreed there would be an Assembly meeting in January.
- There was discussion regarding the December 5th Christmas party. Rotary will provide food and wine for each member and a date. Other friends and family are welcome but will be charged $10/12 each. There will be a Giving Tree Program collection at the party.
- Peter Peterson cannot serve as Vice President because he has not attended the PETS training. Only past presidents can be Vice President.
- Mark Sayler has agreed to become a board member.
- Meeting adjourned at 7:00 PM.
